Bake Sale Sunday School Bake Sale
February 5, 10:00 a.m.

The 4th, 5th and 6th grade Sunday school students will host a Super Bake Sale on Super Bowl Sunday between services. Proceeds will be directed to cancer research. Plan to purchase your party treats. Donations of items to sell are welcomed.


Glen Ellyn UMC Welcome Center First United Medhodist Church of Glen Ellyn Welcome Center for the Homeless
February 5, March 4, April 1

Your help is needed to support the First United Methodist of Glen Ellyn for their on-going ministry to the homeless, the "Welcome Center". As a volunteer, you will act as hosts by registering the guests' attendance, serving food and answering questions. OSUMC has been asked to provide 5 volunteers on the first Sunday of the month starting in Oct. The shift is from 1:15 to 4:00 pm. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact either Karen Willden or Mary Legg.

ELL class ELL Class

The ELL class is held every Wednesday from January 4th and runs through May 30th. This program is made possible, in part, by a grant from the United Methodist Foundation of Northern Illinois Conference ( United Methodist Foundation of Northern Illinois Conference. ). Would you like to become part of the 300+ member prayer team via email? Send your name and email address to Prayer Chain to be added to the distribution list and will receive requests to pray. If you do not have email and still want to be part of the prayer chain, please call the church office at 847-352-8181. You will become of the phone tree prayer chain and receive requests to pray via the phone.


Alexian Brothers Companions Through Grief
2nd and 4th Thursdays 7:00 - 8:00 p.m.

This twice-monthly group will provide ongoing support and guidance as participants continue their grief process. It is ideal for those who have recently attended a grief group as our "Journey Through Grief". Each session will provide the life-altering journey provided by loss. A licensed professional will facilitate each group. The cost is a suggested $5 donation. For more information call Alexian Brothers Grief Support at 847-952-7376. Please register by Friday before session.
The session is held at OSUMC the second and fourth Thursday of each month from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Chili Supper Chili Supper and Talent Show
February 11,
Dinner: 6:00 p.m. Show 7:30 p.m.

The United Methodist Men Chili Supper tickets are now on sale. Our annual Chili Supper and Talent Show is set for Saturday, February 11. Tickets for the Chili Supper are $8.00/adult; $4/ kids 5-12; and free for kids under 5. There is a maximum ticket price of $22 per family of related adults and their children. Chili will be served from 6:00-7:15 p.m. Proceeds go to the Boys Scout and Cub Scout Troops sponsored by the UMMen at Our Saviour’s. Your help is needed: we are looking for people to make chili and desserts. Food donations mean more profits for the Boy Scouts! There is a sign-up table to volunteer for food donations, and to purchase tickets in Fellowship Hall after each service. The Talent Show, sponsored by the Haiti Team, will be at 7:30 p.m., right after the Chili Supper. The theme is “The ’80’s”. A sign-up poster may be found in the narthex, for individual and group acts. Please plan an ‘80’s-style act, and everyone is encouraged to dig out your fashions from the 80’s to show off your hip styles. We will be passing the offering plates for donations which will be directed to the Haiti teachers’ fund.

Interested in becoming a member of Our Saviour's UMC. Classes are held on Thursday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. You need only attend one class (February 23, April 19, July 19 or October 11). Childcare is available and a lite dinner will be served. Contact Peggy Burtt for information and to schedule childcare. New Members are received into our church family at 9:00 or 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship services (February 26, April 22, July 22 or October 14).

Panama Mission Medical & Community Health Mission Trip
to Cienagieta, Panama
March 2 - 10

Volunteers will travel to Panama to serve the Ngobe Indians. Donations of medicines will be accepted 1/15 - 2/22. The only source of vitamins, pain relievers, cough/cold medicines will be the churches of the team members. See Mary Legg for more information.


Baptism Baptismal Classes
March 15, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.

The schedule is set for Baptismal classes for parents of babies and children. Adults who have not been baptized may also attend the class. For our expectant parents, you can plan ahead adn attend class and schedule the date of your baby's baptism later. For baptismal preparation, only one class is required (March 15, June 14, or September 13). The class is held on Thursday evenings. Childcare will be available for older siblings. To schedule a class or baptism, contact the church office at 847-352-8181.


MS Walk MS Walk
May 6, 9:00 a.m.

Save the date for the Multiple Sclerasis Walk. Registration opens at 7:30 a.m. and the walk begins at 9:00 a.m. There is a 1 or 3 mile option. The walk will be held at Harper Community College (1200 W Algonquin Rd, Palatine). More details to follow.
