Rev. David Lagos-Fonseca was born in Temuco, Chile. He is married to Rev. Shirley Pulgar-Hughes. He is the father of a twenty-five year old daughter, Carris. He is the eldest of eight brothers and sisters. Rev. Lagos-Fonseca received his M. Div. degree at Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary, Evanston, IL. He has Bachelor of Arts in English Teaching. He worked at the Iquique English College in Chile as the head of the English department. He speaks fluent Spanish and English.
Rev. Lagos-Fonseca is a person who puts his trust in people regardless of their ethnic origin, races, gender orientation, beliefs, age, physical and economical conditions. He is passionate about affirming and valuing people’s gifts and talents; dignity and worth. He is passionate about advancing biblical and theological education at every level within the local church. He is passionate about missions, local and abroad. He has led mission trips to South Dakota, Chile, Peru, Bolivia, and the Philippines.
Rev. Lagos-Fonseca’s spiritual and theologi-cal inspiration comes from the writings of John Wesley, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Jurgen Moltmann, Hans Kung, John Hick, Gerhard Lohfink, Elaine Pagels, Martin Luther King, Jr., Thomas More, Karen Armstrong, Gustavo Gutierrez, Hildegard of Bingen, and Martin Buber among many others.
Rev. Lagos-Fonseca has served the Northern Illinois Conference through the Commission on Christian Unity and Interreligious Concerns; the Task Force on Immigration; the Latino Ministry Center Advisory Board; Harvest 2020 Conference Leadership Team; Board of Directors of JFON (Justice for Our Neighbors). Rev. Lagos-Fonseca currently serves the District Committee on Ordained Ministry (DCOM); Annual Conference Committee. He is a trustee of Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. Along with his wife, Rev. Shirley Pulgar-Hughes, Rev. Lagos-Fonseca has served Lincoln UMC, Chicago Lawn UMC, First UMC of Wilmington, Cary UMC, and Chicago Temple.
Rev. Lagos-Fonseca likes to ride his bicycle for long rides. He is an outdoor person. He likes listening to music; baking bread; gardening; climbing, playing ping pong, and kayaking. He enjoys family meals. He loves to have dessert first before any meal. He loves dark chocolate and cherries. He loves taking long walks with his dog, Wally.

Ricardo comes to us from New Hope Lutheran Church in Aurora where he was the Pianist/Vocal ensemble director for the last 5 years. Ricardo has an extensive musical background including his current position as Collaborative Pianist and Choral Director at Downers Grove South High School. His musical background includes directing the choirs at Antillean Adventist University, and Hinsdale Adventist Academy. Ricardo received his B.M. Ed at the Universidad Adventista in Columbia, South America, his M.A. in Music from West Texas A & M University in Texas, and his D.M.A. for Choral Conducting from Texas Tech University. Ricardo has taught courses at Antillean Adventist University in Choir, Music Theory, Ear Training, Music appreciation and Music Ministry. Ricardo lives with his wife Martha, and son in North Aurora
Frederick joined the OSUMC as Contemporary Worship curator in 2015. Harris brings more than 15 years of worship leader, music ministry, educational and theater experience to Our Saviour's weekly contemporary service, which is held on 10:30 a.m. Sundays.
Martha and Eric have been leading our youth ministry for over 15 years. Martha works primarily with Jr. High students while Eric works with the Sr. High students. They both enjoy serving and leading mission trips. Besides the annual mission trip each summer with our Jr. and Sr. high; and college students. Martha has led adult and student trips to Haiti and Eric has led young- adult mission trips to Ethiopia. This year they led their first youth mission trip to Haiti. Eric and Martha have 4 children, Jackie Furtado, Michael, Andrew and Taylor.

Heather joined the OSUMC staff in September 2017 and has been a member of the church for 20 years. She coordinates our Sunday school classes, women's retreats as well as other special events such as trunk or treat and visit with Santa. Heather is also the director of our adult bell choir and children's chime choir. She has 4 children, Tracy, Thomas, Audrey and Grace.
