Pastor David Lagos-Fonseca

Pastor David Lagos-Fonseca finds his greatest joy in serving people regardless of their ethnic origin, race, gender orientation, beliefs, age, sexual orientation, physical and economic conditions. He is passionate about working for justice, equality, dignity for all.

Pastor David was born and raised in Chile where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in English teaching from the Pontifical Catholic University. He was ordained in the Northern Illinois Conference after he earned a M. Div. from Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary, Evanston, IL.

He has served the Northern Illinois Conference since 1998. He has led Our Saviour’s United Methodist Church since 2016. He is currently serving the Northern Illinois Conference (NIC) through the Conference Council on Finance and Administration (CCFA); the Prairie Central District Committee on Ordained Ministry (DCOM); CODERED Team.

Pastor David and his wife (Rev. Shirley Pulgar-Hughes) have one daughter, Carris, who is their pride and joy. Pastor David is a proud member and supporter of The Boys Scouts of America. Pastor David enjoys all kinds of sports, watching and taking pictures of birds, riding his bicycle, listening to all kinds of music; baking bread; gardening; playing ping pong, and dismantling anything electronic, just for the fun of it.

Pastor David’s passion is to see lives transformed and renewed by the power of the Gospel. He believes that the church has the awesome responsibility of transforming sinners into saints, the helpless into the helpful and believers into Christians.
